That approach to ministry is an inherent denial of the power of God's Word to convert sinners and build up God's people by exposing our sin and pointing to God's grace at the cross. History contains numerous testimonies to the power of God's Word. A guilt-ridden monk named Martin Luther got saved by studying Romans 1:16-17. The Bible teaches that when you give generously out of love for God, you tap into the very source of God's blessings or God's wealth. Tapping into the source by giving generously out of love will produce two specific riches for us. First of all, we will be made richer in our giving. Knowing that God is for you will strengthen your trust in Him during times of hardship and the unknown. Here are seven practical ways to trust God in your everyday life: 1. Seek Truth in Scripture. Scripture, or the Bible, is God's Word. God knows you need somewhere to go when you feel unsure. That place is His Word. Negatively, God strengthens us against evil. Positively, God strengthens us to serve. The strength you need most today is not meant for you to keep for yourself, but to expend for the good of others. When God showers us with his grace and sends us his strength, he means for it to be spent in love on the needs and interests of people in our Testifying Power. Verse 24: "Give glory to God. We know that this man is a sinner." In other words, "Join us in blasphemy, or we'll excommunicate you out of the synagogue." That's what I'm praying he'll do to you in the next five minutes of this sermon. He is after you. He is going to find you. That's why you're here God has established prayer as the means by which we receive his supernatural help. And without supernatural help, we cannot live a life worthy of the gospel. Everything that distinguishes Christians from the world in a Christ-exalting way is a work of God's supernatural grace. And God has ordained that this grace flows to us through prayer. In the ancient world, inheritance and the major blessing would always go to the firstborn. God comes to Abraham, "I will bless you and all the peoples of the earth through you." Then Abraham has a firstborn son, Ishmael. God's blessing does not flow through Ishmael, which it should have in the ancient world. Throughout Scripture, we are encouraged to give the first part of our resources to God as an expression of honor and gratitude. "Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine" (Proverbs 3:9-10, emphasis added). One way to give of our "firstfruits" is to give a
